Torpedo is a leading creative & digital marketing agency.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant to join our talented and friendly team on a 12 month fixed term contract (starting October 2025) to provide support during maternity leave. A good understanding of finance matters is essential, along with a positive can-do attitude and excellent attention to detail.
Responsibilities & duties
- Oversee and manage the entirety of the purchase and sales ledger
- Manage credit control, including debt chasing and queries, and reporting on debtors and creditors
- Manage reconciliation of purchase orders against supplier invoicing
- Manage reconciliation of client purchase orders against sales invoicing
- Assess mid-month/ working capital position
- Undertake monthly nominal checks
- Create and post monthly journals
- Set up payments
- Manage timesheets and expenses
- Maintain the job management system (Synergist) and be the go-to person for queries and issues
- Work with Client Services team to manage job finances and ensure profitability
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Support with adhoc finance reporting
- Support and resolve any finance queries with clients and suppliers in a prompt and confident manner
- Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency and cost reductions
- Provide support with managing the office, e.g. ordering supplies, arranging client lunches, checking post, watering plants, and generally ensure the smooth running of the office
- Provide administration support across the business, e.g. answering phone, booking training, travel / accommodation, booking meeting rooms, purchasing items for projects etc
Technical skills
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and application
- Experience in using Xero
- AAT qualification or similar
- A high level of professionalism at all times
- Absolute confidentiality
- An organised approach with excellent attention to detail
- Competent user of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- A confident, can-do attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
