Our 2023 charities

This year we have continued to support the local community with our team nominating two charities to for 2023; Survivors  of  Bereavement by Suicide  (SOBS) who provide a safe and confidential environment for bereaved people and Yellow Submarine  who help people with learning disabilities and autism to live life to the full.

The Torpedo team have been really busy raising money for our nominated two charities over the past 12 months. Either by participating in some challenging sponsored events, taking time out to bake cakes (or pop to the shop to buy some – no judgement!) …or by just giving their time and money to support these amazing causes. Here’s what we have been getting up to in 2023:

  • Blenheim Triathlon: As every year for the last 9 years, Torpedo team members ran, cycled, and swam amongst the beautiful surroundings of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. We had entrants for the Full Individual Sprint Triathlon and Full Individual Super Sprint Triathlon events!
  • Lake District Ultra: 18 intrepid explorers set out on a challenging but picturesque walk / jog / run along the 29k Windermere loop in the Lake District. One super human team member even completed the full 100km run finishing 11th overall!
  • Charity Bake-off: All the usual sweet treats and some savoury options were covered with stand-out bakes including festive chocolate pinecones, cheesy twists, mayonnaise brownies, Polish crumble and an Italian lemon custard tart! Judges Paul (Gareth) and Prue (Sonia) gave scores for ‘best bought bake’ ‘best looking bake’ ‘best tasting bake’.
  • Christmas gift delivery: To spread our Christmas cheer with Yellow Submarine this Christmas time, we purchased gifts from their Amazon Wish List and delivered them to their Witney café – and on Christmas jumper day where we were also supporting Save the Children!

Money raised so far…

Currently the total monies raised for our charities are:

  • Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) – over £1,000!
  • Yellow Submarine – over £800, including £200+ in Christmas gifts!

There’s still time to donate…

If like us you believe these are worthy causes – but you haven’t had chance to donate yet – then don’t worry there’s still time:

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has sponsored us, taken part and/or arranged these events and activities. We’re proud to have supported these two truly amazing charities this year.

(Psssttt… the team have already voted for which charity they want to support next year – all will be revealed in 2024 – watch this space!)
