Torpedo is delighted to be supporting two fantastic local charities for Christmas 2021. This year we’re donating gifts to people who might not otherwise receive them, and we’re also going to be giving our time (and energy!) too.
Secret Santa 365 was founded in 2012 by 12-year-old Courtney Hughes when her grandmother was hospitalised at Christmas. Courtney wanted to provide elderly and lonely people she met with Christmas gifts to lift their spirits. Since then over 90,000 gifts have been donated and distributed to people in need in Oxfordshire.
Torpedo is donating a special Christmas parcel on behalf of every member of the team. Each one has been beautifully wrapped for its recipient (see pic below) and will be delivered to Secret Santa 365 HQ in time for Christmas.
Torpedo has also committed to an exciting project with Team Oxford who co-ordinate efforts for employee volunteering in Oxfordshire.
We will be spending two afternoons painting and renovating a house provided for young people who have previously been sofa-surfing. Having a permanent address removes a barrier to employment, giving real opportunities for people who otherwise might have become homeless.
These two charities do an amazing job and we’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Secret Santa 360 and Team Oxford for the work that they do for the people in the local area.
