A year of giving back

Throughout 2022, the Torpedo team has shown how much we love to help others, whether it’s taking on sponsored team challenges, collaborating with our colleagues, or being a volunteer for the day. And what better way to end the year than to support not one but two fantastic local charities.

This Christmas we’re supporting Witney Foodbank (part of the Trussell Trust) who provide emergency food to the local community and Secret Santa 365 who deliver Christmas gifts to the elderly, sick and vulnerable.

With food banks playing an ever more important role during the cost of living crisis, the team recently came together at a company meeting to collect over 150 long-life food items for the Witney Foodbank, and got stuck in wrapping presents to pass on to the team at Secret Santa 365. And never one to shy away from a sweet treat, our team also raised over £200 by holding a charity cake sale during the meeting in aid of SNNAP who support sick, newborn babies and their parents in Oxfordshire and beyond.

Not just for Christmas…

Earlier in the year we also raised over £1,200 for local charities – Sobell House and Oxfordshire MIND, and the national DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal by completing the following challenges and activities:

  • Go the Distance – a team walking challenge throughout the month of May to raise money for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
  • Isle of Wight Challenge – a team hike along the glorious Isle of Wight coastline to raise money for Sobell House and Oxfordshire MIND.
  • Blenheim Triathlon – a team event held within the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace. Where better to swim, cycle and run?!

Our team also volunteered at local charity SOFEA, spending time putting together much needed food parcels for community larders.

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us, taken part and/or arranged these events and activities. We’re proud to have supported some truly fantastic charities this year!
